In a deep bay, hidden from the waves and open sea, is placed a little fishermen's village Rogoznica. Thanks of a good position (34 km south from Šibenik and 25 km far from airport Split ), with a lots of historical monuments, and fascinating beauty of nature, Rogoznica was always considered one of potential tourist bathing resorts of highest category . In the vicinity of Rogoznica, there are situated two national parks, NP Krka and NP Kornati.

 

Rogoznica today is a typical Mediterranean village whose population is around 800. People mostly work in tourism or in agriculture. Thanks to preserved atmosphere of typical quiet little place, Rogoznica to its inhabitants and visitors offers peace and rest in front of all, completely different from a modern life. That little place will hug you as an old friend and after just few days you'll feel as a part of local people, saying hello to fishermen watching them leaving and coming back in to the harbour or toasting to some known face looking for a short rest under palm leafs. Rogoznica has a post office, shops, church, school, kindergarten, hospital, travel agency, big marina with hotel, night club, restaurants, courts for different sports... Marina "Frapa" has 450 berths in the sea and a possibility of dry berths.

 

Rogoznica is the place with the largest number of sunny days in a year on the Adriaric Coast. This part of the coast is the closest to Italy and as such, is influenced by numerous sea and air streams. This is the reason why Rogoznica has such a nice weather. As a consequence this area has healing influence on all problems with lungs and breathing (such as asthma and bronchitis).

 

On the peninsula Gradina there is a lake called “Zmajevo oko” (in English: “Dragon's eye”) with mixed water. It has elliptical shape with the surface of 5400 m2, and it is more than 15 m deep. It is a natural bioreactor with biochemical processes going on in it.
